Paleo Nutrition Conference During SXSW

We believe in the power of group exercise, and the total-body, low impact strength and endurance benefits of rowing and cycling. HOWEVER, you can’t work off poor diet decisions, and when we have clients showing up to class with a diet coke in hand, well, not to put the blame on anyone, but it’s clear we need to do a better job talking about nutrition. Total-body fitness INCLUDES nutrition – you cannot make progress on the machines without equal attention to diet. We want you to be healthy, and we want you to be the best you! YES, there is a bakery next door to Flywheel. NO, a kolache and coffee is not your best post-workout option.

It’s easy to make good decisions on what to eat when you’re armed with scientific information, healthy choices, and the know-how to shop for and cook what’s good for you.  For those of you wanting to attend a special conference on nutrition during SXSW week – here’s a terrific option at UT March 14-17- and your chance to hear some of the best minds in the “Paleo” movement speak about nutrition. The registration fee of $299 is a great price, considering the 2 full days, plus 2 half-days of information you will soak in. If you cannot go, be sure to at least get some information from the sources below.

What about that diet coke? Here’s a great post from Mark Sisson that breaks down why you might want to kick your diet soda habit. And of course, the main culprit in diet drinks is the artificial sweetener, so check out this Balanced Bites post to learn more about why sweeteners matter, even if (gasp!) they are “calorie free.”
