ABOUT FLYWHEEL FITNESS
Indoor Rowing and the Spinning program both offer a group exercise that’s low-impact, high efficiency, and great for building strength and endurance. Our clients span all experience levels, ages and abilities. Anyone can row or spin – you control your own pace and resistance. The ability to control your own resistance on the flywheel allows you to maintain rhythm with the group, while selecting your own difficulty level.
GROUP EXERCISE - Group Fitness Works Better
Studies show that we are motivated to work harder, show up more often, and push further past our perceived limits when training in a group. The results of one study suggest that endorphin release is significantly greater in group training than in individual training; this seems to be the case even when the individual’s power output, or physical exertion, is the same. Not only is it more fun to exercise with others, but it is safer and more efficient to exercise under the leadership of a good coach.
OUR PHILOSOPHY - What Flywheel Believes
At Flywheel we believe in providing you with experienced, energetic, knowledgeable instructors. We believe that you will see results sooner and prevent injury by maintaining efficient, safe technique. We believe that if you are having fun and engaging your mind as well as your body, you will be more consistent with your exercise plan and you will get fitter sooner. And…we believe there are no better exercises than the low-impact, calorie-burning, self-paced exercises of Rowing and Cycling!
ABOUT INDOOR ROWING
CONCEPT 2 – The World’s Best Rowing Machine
The Concept2 Rowing Machine was developed almost 30 years ago by Olympic hopefuls Pete and Dick Dreissigacker. The stationary rowing machine, also called an ergometer or “erg” for short, replicates the feeling of being in an Olympic rowing shell on the water. Air resistance against the flywheel allows rowers to control their own workout. The harder they pull, the tougher it gets, and the more meters are covered per stroke. Today’s Concept2 Indoor Rowers are found in health clubs, homes, schools, and Olympic training centers around the world. The standardized performance monitor makes it easy for anyone to compare times with themselves, with their teammates, and even with World Champions.
TECHNIQUE – Anyone Can Row
Central to Flywheel’s philosophy is our focus on teaching an efficient, safe rowing stroke. Anyone can get a workout by moving back and forth on a rowing machine. At Flywheel, you will learn to use the machines the way Olympic rowers do. You will maximize your efficiency, protect your back from injury, and see results sooner. Each class, from beginner to advanced, begins with a warm-up and includes a short focus on the “drill of the month.” Anyone can do it! Our instructors will make sure that you are consistently maintaining good technique. If it’s your first time rowing, we recommend our basic “Indoor Rowing” class.

FITNESS – The Most Efficient Exercise
Rowing is a total-body sport which builds both cardiovascular endurance and strength through repetitive resistance training. Few other sports can provide the total body benefit that rowing does. Rowers create their own resistance on the machine, and your class will be as intense as you want it to be. Anyone can do it! Similar to a Spin class, you row at your own pressure/resistance. Our instructors will make sure that you are on pace with the group, and will take you through various workouts. A basic 45 minute workout includes a warm-up, a few drills for technique, the “body” of the work (i.e. intervals, short races, or pyramids), and a cool down.

SPINNING TECHNIQUE – Anyone Can Spin
Central to Flywheel’s philosophy is our focus on teaching efficient, safe technique. At Flywheel, our coaches will make sure your Spinner® bike is fit properly to you. We will push you to improve your technique just as a coach of a professional road cyclist would. We want you to consider yourself a “cyclist,” even if you never get out on the road. You will maximize your efficiency, protect yourself from injury, and see results sooner. Each class begins with a warm-up, includes a dynamic, varied workout, followed by a cool-down and stretching. In the SPINNING program, you go at your own pace by controlling the resistance on your SPINNER bike, this makes the class enjoyable for cyclists of all experience and fitness levels. The SPINNING program is a great way to get fit.

FITNESS – A Very Efficient Exercise
Indoor cycling is an aerobic activity which builds both cardiovascular endurance and lower body strength through repetitive resistance training. Few other low-impact activities have the potential to burn as many calories in an hour as cycling. Cyclists create their own resistance on the SPINNER bike, and your class will be as intense as you want it to be. Anyone can do it! Our coaches will make sure that you are on pace with the group, and will take you through various workouts. A basic 45-55 minute workout includes a warm-up, a few drills for technique, the “body” of the work (i.e. intervals, short races, or pyramids), and a cool down.
